Here’s what you need to know..
Please note, this section of information is for campers only. Non camping Attendees must park at specific areas off site and take the free shuttles to the Festival site.
Our address is 1843 Tzouhalem (zoo-hail-em) Rd. Duncan, BC.
Directions to the Islands Folk Festival..
Take Trunk Road off the Island Highway and follow the signs to the Festival site.
We have onsite public parking this year for $5 per day. The traffic and parking crews will direct you to the location upon arrival at the Festival site. Shuttles or a foot path may be taken from the parking lots to the main entrance.
* Camping gate announcements will be made in July 2011.
PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT PUBLIC ACCESS TO THE MAIN FESTIVAL GROUNDS DOES NOT OPEN UNTIL AFTER 3PM FRIDAY. YOU WILL BE RESTRICTED TO THE CAMPING AREA UNTIL THEN.
* No open fires of any type allowed. No exceptions. This includes candles and lanterns.
Camp stoves for cooking are allowed but should be used with utmost caution.
* No Glass or Bottles are allowed on the Grounds of Providence Farm. Broken glass is a substantial hazard to humans and animals. Please make alternate arrangements such as cans or wine boxes instead of bottles.
* No pets are permitted on Festival Grounds including the camping area. We appreciate that you are an animal lover, but many pets can become startled by crowds or loud sounds. We also have attendees who are allergic to certain animals, so it is in everyone’s best interests (including your pets) to leave them at home. The only exception being working guide dogs accompanying a disabled person.
* Camping Passes are $35 per site for the weekend.
We do not have separate day pass camping. A “site” consists of up to 4 people in one location.
Camping passes may be purchased from the Main Gate. Your camping pass must be attached to your tent or vehicle and placed in a visible location at all times.
Camping permits are numbered and non-transferable.
* Tenting Sites: Only one tent per site. A site consists of up to 4 people in one location.
* Vehicle Camping: If you are planning on sleeping in your vehicle, the fee is the same as a tenting site. This applies to vans, trucks, cars, small RV's and trailers up to 4 people per unit.
* Large RV’s will be directed to a separate area.
The fee for an RV over 20 feet long is $50 for the weekend.
There are no electrical hookups, no waste disposal facilities and no water hookups available.
* Idling of any vehicle during Festival hours is strictly prohibited.
* Camper-vans will be permitted to park. Site permit rules apply.
* Trailered units: Once unhooked, vehicles must be removed to offsite parking area or extra site fee will apply.
* Vendor’s Camping: Approved Vendors camping is covered under a separate camping policy. Upon arrival please contact the Vendor co-ordinator for your specific set up and camping guidelines.
* Children: We pride ourselves in providing a wonderful entertaining and encouraging venue for children during the festival. It is your responsibility to be aware of your child’s activities. This includes teenagers.
Small children should never be left unattended.
Islands Folk Festival has a "Lost Child" emergency protocol which immediately goes into effect upon notification of a missing child, however we hope we never have to use it.
Keep an eye on your most precious possessions. Parents should know where their children are at all times.
* Alcohol. Alcoholic beverages are allowed in only two areas. The main Festival Beverage Garden and within your camp site.
No alcoholic beverages are allowed in any other location.
Persons consuming alcoholic beverage outside of the designated areas may be asked by security to cease and desist. Further violations may result in removal from the Festival.
* Smoking is permitted in designated areas only.
When smoking please use a receptacle and take all butts with you.
Please remember you are camping on a working farm the other 362 days of the year.
Farm animals may ingest your discarded butts and suffer severe illness or death.
PLEASE clean your entire camping area before you leave.
Smoking is not permitted in or near the Children's area,
in front of stages or any other location not so designated.
There is no smoking within any building on Providence Farm.
* Volunteer camping. Volunteers will be directed to designated volunteer camping spaces. Volunteers wishing to camp in other areas must purchase a regular camping pass.
* Vehicles will be allowed to bring in and DROP OFF camping gear, then must be moved to offsite parking. Should you wish your vehicle to remain within the camping area, a separate camping fee will apply. (after all, you would be taking up another camping space)
* There are no in/out driving privileges for any camping area vehicles, including Volunteer camping. The only exception will be for for emergency purposes. Once your vehicle is situated within any camping area it must remain there until your departure.
* A Free park and ride shuttle service is provided from offsite parking areas as well as locations throughout the Duncan area. See shuttle services page for information on routes and times.
* Islands Folk Festival is proud to be a Zero Waste event.
We invite you to take the challenge with us.
This year we are introducing a plastic water bottle reduction plan. Volunteers will be circling the grounds offering to refill your water container for you. It is our aim to use only one water bottle (or none) per person all weekend.
Our vendors have also been instructed to reduce waste. You will be served your food and drinks in compostable or recyclable containers and eating utensils.
Anything you bring in that cannot be recycled on site, must go home with you. Please visit the Zero Waste page for more green innovations from the Islands Folk Festival. "Zero Waste" page.
* Camping areas are patrolled but are not secured 24 hours per day.
Please secure all valuables or better yet, leave them at home. Lock your vehicles.
Store your coolers and other items in a secure location when you are not in your camping area.
Islands Folk Festival will not be liable nor responsible for lost or stolen property.
This is a family event, please be considerate of other campers when making merry after the music has finished for the day.
Some of these rules may sound harsh but have been developed over many years to make your Festival attendance a wonderful experience.
Thank you for your co-operation.
All Folkfesters are encouraged to GO GREEN and use the shuttles!!

Musicians Registry
The Cowichan Folk Guild is continually building a musicians registry. We often receive requests from venues and other organizations to supply musicians (and equipment) for their events. We would like to hear from you if you are an active muscian and would like to be considered as part of our gig referral service. Send us an email with your name, the instrument(s) you play, the main style of music, and your contact information. We will add this information to our registry and will contact you when an opportunity arises. Kind of like a free booking agency. First dibs of course will be given to Cowichan Folk Guild members in good standing. It's only fair that our valued members get the perks first. Not a member, well you just found another great reason to join up.
Got Bottles! We need them!
As part of the CFG’s fundraising activities we have set up an account at the Duncan recycling centre. After sorting your bottles and containers just tell the counter person you would like to donate your return to the Cowichan Folk Guild. Every penny helps. We really appreciate your support and it helps the environment too!
