Cowichan Folk Guild - Membership
The CFG is a dynamic and progressive organization that works hard to provide not only first-rate entertainment to the Cowichan Valley, but also provides our community with an opportunity to share some wonderful experiences while celebrating our cultural diversity. We rely on members to participate in our programmes, productions and plans for the future.
“Folk Music” is now one of the most widely used terms in modern music and is often used with a prefix or suffix to narrow the definition (i.e. traditional-folk, folk-blues, folk-fusion). The genre has evolved into a melting pot of styles including Cajun, blues, jazz, world, Celtic, roots, country, Latin, swing and more. The focus of folk music leans toward an acoustic playing of instruments by musicians who perform original material or traditional tunes with an innovative or personalized approach.

Musicians Registry
The Cowichan Folk Guild is continually building a musicians registry. We often receive requests from venues and other organizations to supply musicians (and equipment) for their events. We would like to hear from you if you are an active muscian and would like to be considered as part of our gig referral service. Send us an email with your name, the instrument(s) you play, the main style of music, and your contact information. We will add this information to our registry and will contact you when an opportunity arises. Kind of like a free booking agency. First dibs of course will be given to Cowichan Folk Guild members in good standing. It's only fair that our valued members get the perks first. Not a member, well you just found another great reason to join up.
Got Bottles! We need them!
As part of the CFG’s fundraising activities we have set up an account at the Duncan recycling centre. After sorting your bottles and containers just tell the counter person you would like to donate your return to the Cowichan Folk Guild. Every penny helps. We really appreciate your support and it helps the environment too!
