Volunteers
The 2010 Islands Folk Festival will be seeking volunteers as of March 1st 2010. First consideration will be given to returning volunteers.
We could not run our Festival each year without the valuable contribution of time and effort from our dedicated volunteers.
All volunteers are required to commit and perform at least 10 hours of total duties throughout the Festival time frame. Eight hours of volunteer work for your designated team and two hours for clean-up and tear down at festival end. Additional hours may also be required both pre and post festival dependant upon which crew you are assigned.
For example: Signage team is responsible for both putting up signage prior to the festival and also to remove signage afterward.
Volunteers must also sign a "code of conduct" and receive a special wristband before beginning your crew duites. You can download a PDF of the code of conduct here, print it out, sign it, and bring it with you when you check in.
All volunteers require a photo ID. Once confirmed for a crew please ensure you have sent in a photo (jpeg) stating your name and the crew you are on. Sent it via email to info@folkfest.bc.ca There will also be an opportunity to have your photo taken at the pre-festival work bee, Sunday July 18th between 11am and 3pm. Volunteers who do not have a photo ID by Festival check-in may experience delays upon entering the Festival and may be late for their shifts. It is the responsibility of the crew co-ordinators to ensure ALL volunteers have their photos and information into the Festival office well in advance.
Preference for volunteer positions will be given to current Cowichan Folk Guild Members and returning Volunteers from previous Festivals, upon approval of the IFF volunteer co-ordinator.
All volunteer positions have now been filled for 2010. Thank you to everyone for applying and generously donating your time.

Musicians Registry
The Cowichan Folk Guild is continually building a musicians registry. We often receive requests from venues and other organizations to supply musicians (and equipment) for their events. We would like to hear from you if you are an active muscian and would like to be considered as part of our gig referral service. Send us an email with your name, the instrument(s) you play, the main style of music, and your contact information. We will add this information to our registry and will contact you when an opportunity arises. Kind of like a free booking agency. First dibs of course will be given to Cowichan Folk Guild members in good standing. It's only fair that our valued members get the perks first. Not a member, well you just found another great reason to join up.
Got Bottles! We need them!
As part of the CFG’s fundraising activities we have set up an account at the Duncan recycling centre. After sorting your bottles and containers just tell the counter person you would like to donate your return to the Cowichan Folk Guild. Every penny helps. We really appreciate your support and it helps the environment too!
